WHAT I BELIEVE IN FOR FLORIDA

Fundamental Guiding Principle

  • Following the Constitution: I believe that Congress at any level of government (State and Federal) should follow the Constitution.

Fiscal Policy Principles

  • SMALLER GOVERNMENT: I believe in reducing the size of the State government. That means trimming wasteful and unnecessary spending, entitlements and departments.
  • LOWERING TAXES ON INDIVIDUALS AND BUSINESS: I believe in lowering taxes on individuals and companies, which would provide more revenue for investment and job creation.  Companies such as GM and AIG that were taken over by the government should be returned to the private sector.
  • LOWERING UNEMPLOYMENT: Small business is the bedrock of the livelihood of families and individuals in the District.  Across the nation, most jobs are found in the small business sector. We need to invite large companies by lowering corporation and small to medium size business taxes within our district. This will bring jobs to our area. We also must have citizens with employable skills ready to accept and receive these jobs.
  • FREE MARKET HEALTH CARE REFORM: I believe that the government should allow the Free Market to determine the quality and cost of health care. The government should eliminate the anti-trust exemption on health care, create competition by allowing across state line portability, and reduce waste and fraud, which is a $690 million dollar problem in the state of Florida alone. National mandates are unconstitutional and should be fought by all the States.
  • ENERGY INDEPENDENCE: I believe that rather than shipping off $700 Billion dollars to foreign sources including the Middle East, we need to establish a policy of energy independence in order to create jobs, stimulate the economy, and ensure our national security.  Developing bridge energy sources would further add to our economic power base. I would like to see Florida have an energy payout system like they have in Alaska.
  • PROPERTY INSURANCE: Property Insurance costs are out of control. Let’s allow the free market to work and continue to promote and cultivate competition in the insurance market. At the same time we need to be a watchdog to make certain that private insurers are charging sound and fair rates, while at the same time following the laws recently passed by the legislature. I believe that a national program for homeowners insurance, similar to the already established flood insurance program, would help to stabilize our insurance premiums and spread the risks across the nation to ensure affordable property insurance.
  • STRENGTHENING OUR BORDERS: I believe that in order to protect our sovereign State we need to strengthen the surveillance, patrolling and policing of our borders by utilizing the National and Coast Guard and other security entities.

Social Policy Principles

  • EDUCATION REFORM: I believe that in order to strengthen our educational system, we should return to fundamental teaching methods, insist on a merit-based grading standard, and encourage parent participation. I also believe that students should be taught in an environment that suits there learning needs. I support expanding The McKay Scholarship vouchers for  families for parochial and private schools.
  • SOCIAL SECURITY: I believe that Social Security funds should only be available to U.S. citizens who have paid into the system. Social Security needs to be placed into a lock box and the government should not have access to these funds for any other purpose.
  • SUPPORT FOR OUR ELDERLY: Senior citizens are a valuable resource and yet the most unappreciated segment of society.  They are our parents, our grandparents and our mentors. We must ensure that access to health care is streamlined and that quality is not compromised.  Health care options must be plentiful, competitive and affordable.  Florida’s retirement industry relies on the availability of good health care options, so working with health care providers to improve services is both a personal issue as well as an economic one for our State. A sound health care system needs to be based on private competition. Universal health care will hurt seniors.
  • SUPPORT FOR OUR CHILDREN: The Department of Children and Families (DCF) needs serious reform. The amount of cases of abuse and neglect in our State is mind-blowing. The fact that most children slip through the cracks at DCF, lost or never seen by a case worker is disheartening. DCF needs to be staffed with people who care for children and want to end abuses within our State.
  • WELFARE REFORM: I believe that welfare needs to be reformed into Workfare with a strengthened TANF (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families) Program that partner’s government with the private sector to train recipients for integration back into the workforce.  We need to use and tweak the Wisconsin State model. Participation in the program should be limited to eight months, and should only be available to U.S. citizens.
  • SUPPORT FOR POLICE/FIREFIGHTERS/TEACHERS: I believe in supporting the Police and Firefighters and Teachers. They need our support and funding to do their jobs better. Their pensions and insurance should be protected from the city, county and State government. Their budgets should be the last to be cut not the first. Without these brave souls we have uneducated lawlessness.
  • SUPPORT FOR OUR VETERANS: We need to make sure that our brave fighting men and women have clean and functional facilities to recover, train and receive medical attention. We must cut out fraud and waste within this sector of government to maintain the highest degree of health recovery for our brave fighting men and women.

National Foreign Policy Principles

  • SUPPORT FOR ISRAEL: I believe in the support and defense of Israel for two reasons: First, because it is a mandate from God, and Second because Israel legitimately won its territory in war.  We are their ally and should defend them at all costs. We should never tell Israel how and where to build within its territory. They are a true democracy amongst theocracies and monarchies.
  • STRONG NATIONAL DEFENSE: I believe in supporting the brave men and women in our military by providing them with everything they need to get the job done.
  • LOWERING THE NATIONAL DEBT: I believe that because our current sky-rocketing national debt has placed an individual responsibility of $145,000 on each and every American, the Government needs to balance the budget, use the extra TARP and Stimulus and Slush Funds to pay off the debt, cut waste and fraud, and eliminate unused social programs. Continuing to borrow money from China and other countries is an unwise and unsustainable economic solution.
  • STRENGTHENING OUR BORDERS: I believe that in order to protect our sovereign nation we need to strengthen the surveillance, patrolling and policing of our borders by utilizing the National Guard and other security entities.
  • DESTROYING TERRORISM: I believe we need to stamp out terrorism. The Islamic Fascist wants the whole world to become a united Caliphate under the rule of Islam. They will do anything to achieve this goal and we should do everything to stop them.
  • ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION: I believe that our immigration laws should be enforced and that there should be no amnesty for those who have entered this country illegally. We need to punish employers who exploit illegals and return illegal’s to their country of origin.
  • GLOBAL WARMING: I do not believe in man-made Global Warming. I believe that the earth is alive and warms and cools itself at will.
